Empowering Today’s Hybrid Workforce
Sr Manager, User Experience
VMware- 06/21/2021- Current
Over the last 2 1/2 years, I've had the distinct privilege of leading an exceptional team of design managers and product designers situated across the globe, with responsibilities spanning multiple SAAS products and services. Presently, I hold a pivotal role in shaping the UX strategy and execution of a multifaceted platform consolidation and the comprehensive transformation of the end-user experience for our cloud, analytic, and automation services.
This undertaking represents a significant opportunity for us. We're poised to deliver solutions that not only streamline our customers' experiences but also empower them to seamlessly transition between physical and remote workspaces, all the while minimizing disruptions to their productivity. By offering self-directed efficiency and personalized solutions, we're enabling our users to strike a harmonious balance between the demands of work and life while enhancing their productivity in an increasingly decentralized work environment.
The Challenge
As a UX leader, my role in the product team marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of our intelligence platform. We were at the forefront of a critical shift, transitioning from a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to a mature and fully-fledged application. This was not going to be an easy journey, but fortunately, we had a solid foundation to build upon.
Upon joining the team, I immediately immersed myself in comprehending our product's strategic positioning and, even more crucially, identifying the challenges in the end user experience. Here, I present a snapshot of our starting point and the incredible potential that lay ahead for our platform.
Our starting point:
-
We had a functional MVP in place, but it lacked the finesse and depth necessary to meet the evolving needs of our users.
-
User feedback had revealed several pain points, including navigation complexity, suboptimal performance, and a lack of intuitive features.
-
The overall user interface was serviceable but far from exceptional, lacking the elegance and user-centric design that would truly set us apart in the market.
-
We were operating in a highly competitive landscape, with user expectations constantly on the rise.
The promise of our platform:
-
We envisioned a future where our platform would not merely meet but exceed user expectations.
-
Through strategic design and user experience improvements, we aimed to create a more intuitive, efficient, and delightful product.
-
Our goal was to achieve a seamless transition from MVP to a mature application, ensuring that every user interaction would be a testament to our commitment to excellence.
-
We understood the importance of crafting an experience that would not only retain our existing user base but also attract new customers and partners.
In the world of user experience, we recognize that sound and comprehensive improvements are imperative to achieving our goals. With a strong foundation, a strategic mindset, and a relentless focus on the end user, we were poised to lead this transformation, making our intelligence platform a beacon of innovation and customer satisfaction in our industry.
